I had a fantastic time visiting with all the studio guests that stopped in to learn about Intaglio printmaking! I look forward to the next two days of demonstrating printmaking during the art tour!

You can take the girl out of the Chicago but you can’t take the Chicago spirit out of the girl! That pretty much describes what motivates my edgier style of artwork.
(above) Child’s Play was a problematic/naughty creation that had taken me three years to create. It began as a collagraph print that went rogue on me, so I tucked it away in a drawer for a few years. As time went by, I had grown and evolved as an artist. So when I found the collagraph print, I knew exactly what to do with it, to make it into an interesting composition.
(below) My series of surrealistic charcoal drawings title Bombus (Latin word meaning BOOM) expresses the feeling/action that I wanted to portray in the drawing Bombus!
Please stop in at iMAGiNETHAT! Art Studio on July 27-28 -29th from 10:00am- 5:00pm, listed as #14 in the Northwoods Art Tour Guide.
(below) This composition titled BILLIE is created with handmade paper. The paper pulp was applied to a free-form mold. Once the pulp had dried I applied a variety of permanent metallic paints and mounted the sculpture onto a wood background that’s covered with fabric. Please stop in the studio to find out why this composition was given this title!
(below) The series title SNAP has a special story connected to my dear childhood friend that inspired me to create artwork using a very unusual method. Please stop in the studio and ask me to tell you the story behind this artwork! iMAGiNETHAT Art Studio is #14 on the self- guided tour of the Northwoods Art Tour brochure. Below are some images of collages and prints and drawings inspired by two Kodiak bear cubs that reside at the Wildwood Zoo in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The series of artwork is titled “WALKABOUT”.
(above) original collagraph print is used as a background with added watercolor and a variety of original printed and painted papers have been adhered to create a forest seen in this collage.
(above) Mixed media/ collage/ assemblage The background and bear formations are original collagraph prints, the foreground is created from handmade sculpted paper, to create the feel of a wooded rocky terrain.
(above) This original collagraph print was created using multiple collagraph plates, each inked and pulled through the press separately and watercolor was added to increase the intensity of the colors.
(above) Title: “Munsey” Charcoal drawing of a Kodiak bear cub. This drawing was created with powdered charcoal. The powdered charcoal was added and subtracted with a feather. The feather was especially useful when creating the longer tufts of fur on the bear.
Many of these images are also for sale as a reproduction print and greeting cards.

I’ll also be selling a limited edition of my collection of Kodiak Bear books, greeting cards, lined journals, and coasters.
At this time I’m not set up to take credit cards but welcome cash and checks.
The Kodiak Bear Books offer photographs and information about the growth and development of Munsey and Boda!

Buck’n the System just sounded like a fun title, especially since the artwork has bucks as a theme.
I’ve printed about 25 of each of these hand-pulled original Intaglio prints that have been enhanced with watercolor to create a more interesting composition.
To learn more about the variety and depth of my artwork, please join me on July 27-28 -29th from 10:00am- 5:00pm at iMAGiNETHAT! Art Studio, listed as #14 in the Northwoods Art Tour Guide. Go to http://www.northwoodsarttour.com
I love to play with a variety of materials when I’m creating artwork! If my original prints don’t live up to my expectations, I alter them into a totally new composition.
Sometimes an original prints will sit in a drawer for a couple of years before I figure out what direction to follow. Every January through March I pull out all my misfit children and turn them into totally new compositions, usually collages / mixed media.
I believe that the artwork is waiting for me to develop my skills and that’s when the magic happens! It helps having an open mind and the courage to destroy one piece of artwork to make exciting discoveries and push my boundaries!
