You can take the girl out of the Chicago but you can’t take the Chicago spirit out of the girl!  That pretty much describes what motivates my edgier style of artwork.

child's Play -mixed media,printmaking

(above)  Child’s Play was a problematic/naughty creation that had taken me three years to create.  It began as a collagraph print that went rogue on me, so I tucked it away in a drawer for a few years. As time went by,  I had grown and evolved as an artist. So when I found the collagraph print, I knew exactly what to do with it, to make it into an interesting composition.

(below) This composition titled BILLIE  is created with handmade paper.   The paper pulp was applied to a free-form mold.  Once the pulp had dried I applied a variety of permanent metallic paints and mounted the sculpture onto a wood background that’s covered with fabric.  Please stop in the studio to find out why this composition was given this title!

Paper sculpture with mixed media titled “Billie” created from handmade paper pulp which was applied to a free-form molded structure. Once the paper pulp was dried the mold paper form was removed from the free-form mold and metallic paints and sealant were added to emphasize the papers textures and create more visual interest.

The artwork was given the title “Billie” because of the beautiful marbles incorporated into the composition.  In Old English, the word Billie is defined as small balls.

There are also greeting cards that celebrate the art of dance and delightful snowflakes that dance through the sky.

Buck’n the System just sounded like a fun title, especially since the artwork has bucks as a theme.

I’ve printed about 25 of  each of these little original prints and added water color to enhance the composition.

While traveling this past weekend to Wisconsin Dells to attend  an office Christmas party, I packed my art bag and brought a portfolio full of small prints to work on during the drive.  These are a sample of two of the prints that I water colored during the car ride to the Dells.

I’ve created dance themed artwork to honor my families love of dance! My  father is a graduate from Arthur Murray School for Ballroom  Dance in Chicago. So my parents were avid Ballroom Dancers. My daughter Katherine is a former student of Main Street Conservatory of Dance. She is also a former Dance Choreographer for the Wisconsin State 4-H Showcase Singers.  So the art of dancing has always been in my blood!
